"We are under attack"

That was the immediate realization that we all simultaneously felt in a single moment of terror as the second tower was struck.
September 11th, 2001.

"We think we are immune, somehow.  So we ignore till they're at our door and there's no help to be found.  Never Again is Now."

It is nearly impossible to find words that hold enough value to be considered worthy of even being written on this day.
We want to say something to honor the lives lost.
We want to express our eternal gratitude for those who's selfless acts of heroism resulted in them paying the ultimate price.
We want those who had anything to do with this attack and those who celebrate it to suffer swift and absolute justice.

We were devastated.
We were heart-broken.
We were angry.

We were united.

It was brief.  As if for just one second in eternity all of our differences were erased.  They weren't, of course.  But they so paled in comparison to this brand new feeling.
"WE" were under attack.
Not we(blacks).  Not we(whites).  Not we(hispanics) Not we(homosexuals). Not we(liberals) Not we (conservatives).  Not we(whatever race, or group you associate yourself or your culture with)

WE (all of us. every single one) were under attack.
And we were united.

And every year at this time, amidst all the grief and horrible memories from that day, as we rekindle our promise to "never forget".
I pray we also promise to always remember.

"And if one can overpower him who is alone, two can resist him. A cord of three strands is not quickly torn apart."  Ecclesiastes 4:12
